The Power of Students

While following our Glenstone daily Bible reading plan, I recently came across these comments from a young man named David… “Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:36,37). Amazingly bold words from an amazingly bold young man. This young man went on to defeat the giant Goliath, and grow to be the greatest king in the history of Israel. But, do you know what strikes me about his words? They speak value to taking risks and trusting God at a young age.
Why do I mention that? Because at Glenstone we believe in investing in students and challenging them to take bold risks in following Jesus. It is one reason why Dick and Brenda Seitz, Dom and Sherri Engle, JJ Synan, Greg Whitus, and myself have been regularly investing in the middle and high school student of Glenstone. And it is why we have asked Madison Finney to join us as a Glenstone summer intern. We know that students’ decisions to take risks and follow Jesus can change the course of their entire lives, our nation, and the world.
So be sure to join us this Sunday, as we introduce Madison to you. And the next time you see a young Glenstone student, consider this… God may just be using that young life to take on the arrogant giants of our day.
